Leading technology industry research firm Gartner has included Cosmo Tech as a sample vendor of Digital Supply Chain Twins in its just-released Hype Cycle for Supply Chain Planning.
Coming just two months after Gartner recognized Cosmo Tech as a sample vendor in their influential Hype Cycle for Supply Chain Strategy, the company finds itself highlighted again for their innovative AI-Simulation Technology.
Gartner’s latest Hype Cycle divides the various technologies into four categories depending on the benefit that a firm adopting that technology can expect to extract from its use.
Low or moderate impacts are expected from technologies like descriptive analytics, diagnostic analytics, or data lakes. Tools that incorporate prescriptive analytics, predictive analytics, and that optimize planning are considered to generate high business impacts. Digital Supply Chain Twins (DSCT), on the other hand, are even beyond that, with analysts Tim Payne, Amber Salley, and Pia Orup Lund placing them in an exclusive transformational category.
“It’s no surprise to me that technologies like our Prescriptive Simulation Twins are considered transformational for supply chain planning,” says Cosmo Tech co-founder and CEO Hugues de Bantel. “Cosmo Tech clients that have adopted our digital twin technology have achieved double-digit value creation, optimized the efficiency and productivity of their strategy and operations, and enhanced the resiliency of their supply chains“
Gartner analyst Tim Payne explains that digital twin technologies like Cosmo Tech are at the core of the digital transformation of the supply chain
“The impact of the DSCT is transformational as it enables end-to-end decision making by being in lockstep with the real-world supply chain. Therefore, a digital supply chain twin is at the heart of any digital supply chain effort,” he says. “It is through this twin that a company can drive the alignment of its decisions both horizontally and vertically throughout its supply chain. This alignment is key in the effort to significantly improve decision making and the associated business value.”
Cosmo Tech co-founder and Executive Chairman Michel Morvan explains that this capacity to drive alignment throughout a real-world supply chain is one of the key benefits that Cosmo Tech clients extract from their Prescriptive Simulation Twins.
“Our AI-Simulation Technology allows us to model a supply chain as it is in the real world, with all of the interdependencies, interconnections, and constraints of a real-world system,” he explains. “By running unlimited simulations on their models our clients can see the impact of any decision on the system as a whole. Teams, departments, divisions, and the entire company can align on the best strategy, the best operations policies, and the best supply chain plan. They can – and do – generate business value rapidly.”
Gartner’s Hype Cycle is intended to assist supply chain leaders in transforming their supply chain planning. The annual report offers supply chain leaders guidance on the viability, maturity, and transformational capacity of a range of technologies, including digital supply chain twins.
Among the sample vendors listed in this year’s report, Cosmo Tech stands alone as a representative of the Digital Twin Consortium, the global authority and reference for digital twin technology. Cosmo Tech’s experience and expertise in digital-twin simulation was recently recognized by Digital Twin Consortium Executive Director Dr. Richard Solely, and Gartner’s inclusion of the firm as a sample vendor for Digital Supply Chain Twins only reinforces this growing international reputation.
Cosmo Tech’s eBook Tackling Manufacturing Challenges with Digital Twin Technology outlines the key advantages that Prescriptive Simulation Twins offer supply chain planners, asset managers, and decision-makers charged with optimizing costs and increasing productivity. It includes use cases familiar to top teams in the automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing sectors and can be downloaded for free here.
