Woman tries to lure dog into New York traffic after complaining he’s been unleashed
A woman was filmed trying to lure a dog named Boba to a New York street as she berated her owner for not keeping him on a leash and threatened to call the police.
A video originally posted on Reddit’s PublicFreakout page shows the woman, who is white and unnamed, arguing with the dog’s owner, an Asian man, on a sidewalk. It is not known when and where the video was recorded.
The owner, who also has not been identified, repeatedly calls the woman a “Karen” and accuses her of racial profiling – claiming she told him to “go back to where he came from” before starting shooting.
The video opens with the woman standing with her hands on her hips asking the owner and another woman off camera, “Do you already have a leash?”
“Why are you harassing us? Asks the other woman.
“Haven’t you heard of a leash in town?” Answers the so-called Karen. “We’ll wait for the police to clear it up. ”
The argument escalates before the woman begins to clap her hands and call for the dog as she runs down the street.
A woman was filmed trying to lure a dog named Boba down a busy New York street as she berated her owner for not keeping him on a leash and threatened to call the police. Video shows her animatedly clapping her hands and calling the animal into traffic
The video opens with the woman – who has not been named – standing with her hands on her hips and asking the owner and another woman off camera, “Do you already have a leash?”
The man filming the encounter urges the woman to pull out her phone and “call the police”, while trying to get him to repeat what she allegedly told him earlier.
– Which country should I go back to, Karen? Say it, ”he asks. ‘Did you give the cat your tongue?’
With her arms crossed across her chest, the woman just looks at the camera and smiles.
‘Oh! Does the cat have my tongue? Really?’ she says. “Edit it. ”
Then the woman animatedly claps her hands and tries to lure the dog into the busy street.
“Come on puppy! She yells, but fails in her attempt to keep the dog away from its owners.
“Are you actually making a dog go in the middle of a freeway?” What kind of problem do you have, lady? asks the second woman.
‘You insult someone of Asian descent… why don’t you turn around [to] where do you come from? Who are you? Leave the people alone.

Failing to lure the dog into the street, the woman then approaches a nearby New York Police Department (NYPD) patrol vehicle as the dog’s owner continues to film her.
The couple continue to argue as she stands next to a police car
“Put him outside,” said the filmed woman. “State that you can walk without your dog on a leash. ”
The woman then approaches a nearby NYPD patrol vehicle, while the dog’s owner continues to film her.
It’s not clear in the video if the NYPD got involved or if the issue has been resolved.
According to the New York City Department of Sanitation, a person who owns or controls a dog in a public space must do so “effectively restrained by a leash or chain no longer than six feet in length.”
Those who break this rule must pay a fine of between $ 200 and $ 400.
The video, which received around 1.1,000 comments, received mixed reactions.
“There is a way to tell someone to put a leash on their dog. It’s not that, ”one user commented.
“Especially dogs like this that aren’t trained, at least if they’re not on a leash, they shouldn’t be so poorly trained that they would follow a stranger down the street. Really no reason not to keep him on a leash, ”wrote another.
The NYPD did not respond to Dailymail.com’s request for comment.
