Non-profit music festival M3F Fest announces 2023 lineup and launch of M3F fund

M3F Fest, North America’s premier nonprofit music festival, has announced the lineup for the highly anticipated 2023 edition at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, March 3-4. M3F donates 100% of festival proceeds to charity, with a record $1.2 million last year and $4.4 million since 2004.

Beyond the lineup, M3F has also announced the launch of its new one M3F fund. Expanding its current focus on charitable causes, the festival has opened up funding to the public by offering an open application for nonprofit or 501(c)(3) organizations that have clear goals and a measurable method for evaluating progress. All organizations must provide a detailed plan of the amount of funding requested and how it will be allocated, as well as a project timetable. The festival prioritizes funding related to the four main pillars of its organization, namely community, education, arts and environment.

This expanded approach also provides attendees with greater transparency with an updated process that requires organizations to provide a more detailed list of how they intend to use the funds, track where donations have gone throughout the year, and create a short video on the details how the money was once spent. The participants also play a key role in the M3F fund. When fans buy a ticket to have a great time with their friends, they are also giving back to the community around them.

M3F’s lineup will once again bring together an eclectic group of artists from the worlds of indie, pop, R&B, electronic and more. These include beloved Grammy-nominated singer Maggie Rogers, forward-thinking English beatmaker and producer Jamie xx, French electro duo Polo & Pan, Detroit singer Quinn XCII and offbeat sounds of multi-talented Toro y Moi.

Other highlights include German disco and house producer Purple Disco Machine, Mom + Pop signers Ashe, Nashville indie rockers COIN, Connecticut pop and electronic singer Chelsea Cutler, the addictive sounds of Canadian indie Favorites Peach Pit, Australian electronic producer Hayden James, Brit Awards Best Dance Act winner Becky Hill and more.

Originally created as a team building event for its producers, Wespac Construction, the festival acts as a philanthropic showcase for the city of Phoenix. The 2022 edition of M3F raised 1.2 million for charity, doubling the amount of the previous 2020 edition. This included donations to organizations like Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Music Therapy Program, Habitat for Humanity, Backline, Artist Advocacy Foundation, United Way, Arizona Helping Hands, Amy’s Rescue and more.

“M3F is unique in that it is at the center of music, arts, culture, community and charity,” said Warner Bailey, Festival Manager of M3F. “Fans who visit M3F are in for something much bigger than just 2 days of great music. In 2022 alone, we raised $1.2 million and will continue to grow that number for years to come. We created the M3F Fund to exist as a year-round company, leveraging the M3F platform and resources to make a tangible difference in our community. The M3F fund exists as a 365-day ecosystem that allows us to continue our charitable efforts after the gates have closed. We work with each charity/nonprofit throughout the year to stay up to date on how the donation is being used and how fans can continue to support the causes they care about.”

M3F also partnered with Tonic to host a block party in Phoenix to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was free and featured music from Whethan, Surf Mesa and thom.ko. This partnership with Tonic sees them donating $1 from every can sold in October to the Wendt Family Breast Cancer Program in St. Joseph’s, Arizona, Arizona. Donations ensure community members have access to the best possible breast cancer care, allowing more patients to receive life-saving treatments.

In addition to music and charity, M3F also pays attention to sustainability, with over 80% of waste being recycled every year. Guests can also enjoy an amazing variety of food and drink, art installations and activities. More details will be announced ahead of M3F.
