On April 17-18, the local Napa Valley Dog Training Club hosted an AKC-sanctioned scent work trial that included challenges such as container searches, outdoor searches, searches inside and buried excavations, on three levels of competition, novice, advanced and excellent. During testing, dogs are required to find specific birch, anise, and clove scents and alert their owners.

Lola, owned by Linda Luchsinger of Napa, won a second ribbon in the Novice A Exterior category.
Mia, driven by Marcie Neller from Saint Helena, won second place in the Novice B Containers category, second place in the Novice B Interior category, fourth place in the Novice B Exterior category and High in Trial on Saturday for the category Novice B.
Tucker, led by Neanna Gracia of Napa, won a qualifying ribbon in recent scent working trials.

The local Napa Valley Dog Training Club hosted an AKC-sanctioned scent work trial on April 17-18. The dogs included were of all breeds and ages, from as far away as Nevada. The trial president was Mary Ash, of Napa, the trial secretary was Donna Golemon, of Napa, and the judges were Pat Moffitt and Kelly Boyer. The trials consisted of challenges such as container searches, searches of exterior areas, searches of interior rooms and burial searches, in three levels of competition, novice, advanced and excellent. During testing, dogs are required to find specific birch, anise, and clove scents and alert their owners.
