Iconic Anlaby station to host new craft market • Glam Adelaide

Perfectly nestled between the world renowned Barossa and Clare Valley wine regions, Anlaby Station is the quaint 19th century sheep station now serving as a Bed & Breakfast and wedding and event venue.

Relatively unknown to the wider Adelaide community, Anlaby Station is South Australia’s oldest sea stud, dating back to 1839.

On Sunday, June 19, artisans from across the state will gather in the barn of this iconic property to showcase their wares. From clothing and jewelery to homewares and art, the variety of local and handmade goods on offer at Anlaby Market is sure to impress and showcase the best of South Australian produce. .

Market organizers Jayne and Rachael from The Sparkling Red Markets are known for holding their markets in unique and wonderful locations with previous settings such as Pennington Gardens Market, Meander Market on Melbourne Street and Adelaide Gaol.

This new location seemed like a no-brainer for Jayne when looking for the next market.

“I went visiting one day looking for an undercover location and fell in love with the place,” she says.

“The story is amazing and such an unsung gem of South Australia. Previous markets in the area have been very successful in the summer months, so it made sense to continue something in the winter months, connecting both metropolitan and national Adelaide suppliers.

The day will be hosted by talented Adelaide musician Jordan D’Sena who will play his signature acoustic sounds as you stroll through the stalls. As always, a great selection of dishes will be available with food and wine from the Anlaby kitchen and The Bearded Cook preparing their delicious vegetarian and vegan delights.

A stay at Anlaby is a truly unique experience offering not only a comfortable place to stay, but also the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history of the property. Choose from either mansion; the now converted two-storey building that once served as the station manager’s office, or the elegant coachman’s cottage; the beautifully restored accommodation which once housed the property’s head gardener.

The perfect place for a peaceful getaway, Anlaby is only 13 km from the town of Kapunda and a short drive from the Barossa and Clare Valley, each with countless vineyards and world-class cuisine.

So, mark this one in your diaries and immerse yourself in this fabulous place and enjoy a day at the Anlaby market. And a side note – Dogs are welcome! (Just bring a leash and a poop bag!).

The Anlaby market will take place on Sunday June 19, 2022. For more information, visit the Facebook.

Anlaby station is located at 829 Anlaby Road, Hamilton (via Kapunda), SA, 5373.
