Eight dogs search for loving homes in Manchester in time for Christmas
Eight adorable dogs are looking for new homes in Manchester in time for Christmas.
The crosses have ended up in no-fault kennels – but hope to get a new home before the end of the year.
The Kennel Clubs have estimated that there are 12 million dogs in the UK, with around 75% of them having a pedigree, meaning both parents are of the same breed.
However, others – known as crossbreeds, half-breeds, or affectionately named “Heinz 57” – could be fusions of many different breeds.
Our sister site Team dogs has rounded up eight crossbreeds looking to start their new lives this Christmas. However, those who wish to welcome a dog during the holiday season should be reminded that a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.
Name: Barry

Love: Play goofball and play challenging, tumbling games
Do not like : Being left alone for long periods of time
Additional information: Barry is described as the “resident song” of Dog Trust Manchester, with a personality and energy to match.
Barry can be overkill and will need patient owners who are experienced with strong dogs.
However, he is a “big blunderer” who will make a great addition to the right household, he just needs adopters who are patient enough to help him settle in and maintain his continuing education.

Name: Dobby
Age: Three years
Sex: Man
Raise: Lurcher’s cross
Love: Say hello to your favorite humans and receive lots of goodies
Do not like : Bigger male dogs invade his personal space
Additional information: Dobby is a great character around the rescue center and loves to mess with and hug his favorite humans.
He can be worried about large male dogs and prefers the company of smaller dogs which can be less intimidating, which is why he should be the only pet in the house.
However, he can live with children over the age of 16 and would need an active home where he can have many adventures with his new family, which will help him regain his self-confidence.

Name: Summer
Age: Two years
Sex: Female
Raise: Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Love: Play with toys and meet new dogs
Do not like : Initially meet new people
Additional information: Summer has come to the rescue as a stray and can be nervous around new people at first, but once she’s comfortable she has a lot of love to give.
She would need to meet potential adopters a few times to acclimatize, but it would be âa bundle of funâ in the right home.
While she can be entertained with her toys, she also loves meeting new dogs and wants nothing more than to make new friends to have fun with.

Name: Daisy
Age: A year

Love: Go for walks and meet new dogs
Do not like : Not being able to enjoy your own space
Additional information: Daisie came to the shelter because her owner could no longer take care of her, and for this reason, she was very nervous when she arrived.
She has since emerged from her shell and is a lively girl who loves to walk around and meet new dogs.
However, Daisie has some behavioral issues that adopters will need to work on and, for this reason, will need to be the only dog ââin an adult-only household.

She is unfortunately under-socialized with dogs and can be easily frustrated when she sees them. For this reason, she will need walks in sparsely populated areas of dogs and should be the only pet in the house.
She has been successful in walking well alongside some dogs, but will need adopters to feel comfortable continuing to socialize with her dog.
