Disabled Cat Who “Loves Cuddles” Is Desperately Looking For A Nursing Home
Blue Cross staff in Exeter are looking for a retirement home for a disabled cat they have been caring for since April.
Benji the fluffy white cat is 10 years and five months old and suffers from cholangiohepatitis, a disease common in the feline population.
The disease affects the liver and bile ducts of cats, causing inflammation, and also affects the lifespan of cats with the disease.

Michele James, an animal welfare assistant at the charity’s Pynes Hill site, believes they have not been able to find new owners for her due to the combination of her old age and the sickness.
She said: “His condition is being managed successfully with medication and he is currently happy and pain free.
“His life expectancy will be affected and I think that’s what turns people off, which is understandable.
“We desperately want him to have a home for the last years of his life.
“Benji is very affectionate and loves to snuggle up on your knees to snuggle up.
“He’s a talker and screams when he’s hungry. He’s always playful and is generally a cheeky cheeky.”
His foster families also describe him as a “lovable cat” and have no problem giving him his prescription medication.
They said, “He likes a lot of attention and treats, he can be very vocal if his food dish is empty.
“He loves hugs and loves being around people.
“He also likes to curl up in a chair and sleep during the day sometimes.
“It is easy to pound because it will take it in a piece of treat meat.”
Benji is afraid of other cats and dogs, so he would not be suitable for a household with these pets and he prefers children of school age and up.
Anyone interested in becoming a Benji caregiver can contact Blue Cross by calling 0300 777 1593, emailing [email protected], or visiting this website.
