Birth of the Arko III clone announces Gemini Genetics

An Arko III clone was born in August 2021 following the combined efforts of the British gene preservation company, Gemini Genetics, and their partner and world leader in animal cloning, ViaGen Pets and Equine.

A remarkable moment for the equine industry, the Arko clone will allow his legacy to continue after his sad death at the start of the year.

By the famous Argentinus, from Unika, Arko III was number 1 in show jumping in Europe in 2004, 2005 and 2006. His earnings were over £ 1.2m and on top of his impressive performance in jumping of jumping he is also the sire of many world class horses, including the stallions Argento and Aristio.

The owners of Arko, Pat, John and Lisa Hales of Shaw Farm, commented:

The Hales family is internationally known for their success with Arko III and their influence on equine sport and breeding. They have received numerous accolades over Arko III’s career while Arko himself has been crowned Best British Rider of the Year five times.

The Arko clone was generated from a small sample of the original Arko skin that has been genetically preserved by the UK-based genetic preservation company Gemini Genetics. Once stored, the precious tissue sample was shipped to their partner cloning company, ViaGen Pets & Equine, who completed the cloning process.
